About External Evaluations

External evaluations are an integral component of the review process, so tools are available to streamline this process and make it easy for Unit Administrators or Case Managers to request evaluations from scholars that are outside of the committee or institution. A Unit Administrator, Case Manager, or Committee Manager in Interfolio Review, Promotion & Tenure (RPT) can request evaluations from one or more external evaluators from the case page of a candidate. These requests come in the form of an email. The subject and message of the email can be customized, due date can be set, and files can be attached from the case to help the evaluator complete their review. Importantly, access to the evaluations can be set (the Administrator only, Committee Managers, and/or the entire committee) once it is received. Requests can be set to multiple evaluators using a single form which will include a message, the attached files, due dates and more). Also, RPT can be used to solicit names of potential external evaluators from the candidate up for review. This can be done with a custom form that can be created for the candidate to fill out or with a required document that the candidate is asked to upload themselves. The candidate will never be notified or be able to see the external letter.
