About NIH Biosketch (2020) Defaults
The Biosketch Template: NIH Biosketch Template has been renamed to NIH Biosketch. In an earlier release a box was created to house profile details. In the vita output, this box should replace the header.
- Name, Position Title, and Education/Training (Degrees) should be pulled automatically from the DB.
- eRA Commons user name will need to be added manually; this should show up as a section on the Edit screen, represented by an open text box (not RTE)
All remaining sections should work the same as in the previous Biosketch template. The mapping of sections has been updated and new sections have been added to the top.
NIH requires use of either its portal or SciENcv as of May 25, 2021. We are working with NIH to integrate, though we have been told they do not have capacity to facilitate this right now. Interfolio released the 2021 NIH biosketch updates to the template in May 2021. The biosketch available to generate, however faculty will also need to use SciENcv or the NIH portal for submission. We confirm whether the biosketch is needed during implementation, so we know in advance to ensure the appropriate configuration decisions are made for it feature to work properly with the data that exists in Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR, Faculty180).
If the mapping does not reflect the database, and remapping is needed, please submit a request for remapping to our Scholar Services support team:

FAQs
How do I create NIH/NSF biosketches?
To create a biosketch, click Vitas & Biosketches on the Faculty menu, then select Legacy Vitas and then click the Add button. You will then have the option of choosing a template for your biosketch. FAR contains templates for NIH and NSF biosketches.
