ORCID Credentials Request and URI Registration Instructions

ORCID reached out to us and asked that we stop using our Faculty180 ORCID credentials for pulling/pushing client data and instead use the client's credentials.  This helps them understand better which clients are using their service and provide support.

Additionally, even if they already have their credentials, clients will need to register our new subdomain as an accepted URI.  This is tied to our change to faculty180.interfolio.com.  We need ORCID to recognize our new redirect URI - this is the URI that we will pass to ORCID to get authorization to pull the client's data.  ORCID will need to store this or else our API (OAuth) requests will be denied since we'll be passing them a URI they don't recognize.

I confirmed that ORCID can store multiple URIs per client so this is something we should get done prior to our integration release for any clients using or expecting to use ORCID.

Our integration release is tentatively scheduled for the second week of April.  These need to be in place before that release.

  1. If the client doesn’t already have credentials from ORCID, they will need to request them - for sandbox (if they want to use the ORCID sandbox) and production

  2. The client will need to tell ORCID to recognize the Interfolio redirect URIs below.  When pulling or pushing data, ORCID will only accept requests with URIs that they have on record (security purposes).

  3. The client or CS representative will need to enter the ORCID credentials on the screen below in F180.  F180 will use these to make ORCID requests.

Contact information should be someone in the client’s organization and NOT an Interfolio contact.

ORCID will send credentials to the contact entered. Those credentials will be entered on https://www.faculty180.com/administrative/UnivSettings.php. Setup > School > Details > Miscellaneous is the path through the system.  The environment will be set to the environment for which the credentials were requested.
