Faculty Activity Reporting Release Notes 2023.10.16

Added Secondary and Tertiary sort options to Vita Builder:

By default, activities that are output on vitas generated from New Vita Builder are sorted in reverse chronological order by the date/time in which they were entered into F180 as described in this article. Now, users have available secondary and sometimes tertiary sorting, or can switch between these methods or having information display chronologically. We anticipate this will improve the experience for administrators or faculty in F180 since activities are sorted in reverse chronological order on most vitas.

  • Default sort for all sections upon creation of a template is reverse chronology by end date (if end date is ongoing, that’s considered the most recent). We offer an option when editing sections to sort all activities within a section chronologically.
  • For scholarly activities, we now allow a secondary option to sort by Authors (respecting the order in which they were input).
  • For grants, we now allow a secondary option to sort by Title.
  • For non-scholarly activities, we allow a secondary sort by start term (if available) as well as a tertiary sort by title.
  • For profile sections, we offer a secondary alphabetical or numerical sort for the first field, if not already utilized as the primary search.
  • Existing vita templates will be affected such that they are default sorted reverse chronologically.
  • Existing vita templates will have the option to sort chronologically by section when the user attempts to edit the template.
  • When a user chooses to sort chronologically by section, only dates should be affected.  The secondary+ sorting options should be respected as written.
  • Vitas generated in the past (i.e., prior to the start of this work) will not be impacted.
  • Vitas generated from existing templates after the completion of this work will respect reverse chron/chronological settings of the template (again, default is reverse chron unless otherwise specified in the template.
