Accessibility at Interfolio: Our Commitment to Inclusive Design

Accessibility in technology is not just a compliance requirement; it’s a vital aspect of creating products that serve all. At Interfolio, we prioritize accessibility to ensure our products are usable for everyone, including individuals with disabilities. Our commitment to meeting or exceeding the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level A/AA (WCAG 2.1 A/AA) is fundamental to creating an equitable experience for all users.

Our Approach to Accessibility & Inclusive Design

Accessibility is integrated into our product development process. We believe that every user deserves equal access to our tools and resources, and we strive to foster an inclusive environment across our platform.

Auditing for Compliance & Ongoing Enhancements

To ensure compliance with accessibility standards, we conduct regular audits of our modules. These audits employ a mix of automated testing tools and manual evaluations from trained accessibility testers to provide a comprehensive review of our product. Some key items we evaluate include:

  • Keyboard Navigation
  • Screen Reader Compatibility
  • Color Contrast
  • Alternative Text for Images

As part of this process, we produce Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) for each module every two years. Feedback from these audits directly informs our designs and feature enhancements. Additionally, we conduct ongoing accessibility testing for any new features to ensure adherence to WCAG 2.1 A/AA standards.

Product Digital Accessibility Roadmaps

  • Our Product Digital Accessibility Roadmaps are integrated into the general product roadmap, which is published quarterly.
  • While we do not have a specific roadmap solely for accessibility, we commit over 20% of our capacity to ongoing platform health and evolution, including accessibility, infrastructure, and security improvements.
  • To address gaps identified in our ACRs, we prioritize our efforts by first addressing issues categorized as "does not support," followed by those labeled as "partially supports." This approach ensures we enhance the user experience for everyone.

Strengths in Our Accessibility Efforts

  • Visual Accessibility: We ensure that instructional content is clear and does not rely solely on sensory characteristics such as shape, location, or color. Our team works to maintain a color contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, and we ensure that resizing text remains functional.
  • Keyboard Navigation: Our product is designed for a logical reading sequence, allowing users to navigate easily using only the keyboard. Interactive links and buttons are also accessible through keyboard commands.
  • Screen Reader Compatibility: Interfolio tests compatibility with various screen readers, including JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver. We structure our content with headings, landmarks, and lists to facilitate smooth navigation for users of assistive technologies.
