Creating a Custom URL for Premium Web Profiles

This guide describes how you can use your own custom domain instead of the default elsevierpure.com domain for your hosted Web Profile.

These instructions assume that:

  • You are an existing Premium Web Profile client.
  • Your Web Profile is currently running under mypure.elsevierpure.com.
  • Your Web Profile is hosted by Elsevier.
  • Elsevier will create the SSL certificates and handle renewals using Let's Encrypt

Step 1: Configure DNS

The first step is to add a CNAME to the DNS server handling mycompany.com

The CNAME record must point to the correct subdomain of elsevierpure.com, and not to the IP addresses. This means that your domain will automatically use any changes we make to the elsevierpure.com domain.

Step 2: Contact Interfolio Support

Once the DNS name has been updated, you should contact the Interfolio Support Team (help@interfolio.com) to schedule the URL change for Web Profiles. Please provide the following information:

  1. Confirmation that your CNAME has been created for your own custom URL, which points to the generic URL (e.g. https://schoolname.elsevierpure.com) and
  2. The actual custom URL address.
  3. The following information (required for us to create the CSR):
    • Common Name (the domain name the certificate should be issued for)
    • Country
    • State (or province)
    • Locality (or city)
    • Organization
    • Organizational Unit (Department)
    • Email address (Optional)

We will then:

  1. Verify that the DNS changes are correct and find a suitable time to make the change. There should not be any noticeable downtime when the change happens.
  2. Add a redirect from the old URL (mypure.elsevierpure.com) to the new URL, so that any users still using the old URL will be sent to the new URL automatically.
