Making Web Profiles more accessible

Since the VPAT evaluation at the end of 2025, a number of accessibility improvements have been made to Interfolio Faculty Web Profiles. Here is the summary of the key changes:

  • Improved screen reader keyboard navigation on long lists of filter options
  • Improved semantic markups, heading structure and aria labels in the search and filter area, as well as in the profile areas of the Web Profiles
  • Removed the three dot navigation button that made further menu tabs inaccessible
  • Collaboration map icons have sufficient contrast, map hover and popup behaviour made accessible
  • Focus colour has sufficient contrast, navigation elements have sufficient contrast
  • Search box accessibility, including selection of the search mode
  • Advanced search results page navigation and aria labels
  • SDG icons display made accessible
  • Labels easier to read when zoomed in

Please note that these changes have been made in Q1 2026 and will be reflected in the next VPAT edition.

Changes we are working on in the coming months:

  • Clear and descriptive accessible names on the menu elements
  • Further improvements in semantic markups and area labels
  • Language dropdown accessible for screen readers in all languages
