FAR Institutional Vita Builder

This article is intended to capture information from release notes and other help articles with details about the institutional vita builder.

Why it is Useful

  • Rename section headers
  • Users can now group activities in a section by activity classifications or database fields. (Legacy can also be grouped by AC)
  • Grants have the added ability to group activities by Status.
  • Scholarly Contributions and Creative Productions can also be grouped by Subtype and Status.
  • Can also HIDE Subtypes you don’t want on a Vita
  • Drafts and Archiving templates
  • Users can preview styling or layout changes without having to emulate a user and generate a vita.
  • All changes made to Vita templates are logged for audit/review purposes. Administrators can view or download a CSV of this log for auditing purposes.
  • Can add section descriptions, display styles, sort order, numbering, and links to attachments.

Check out this article Overview of Building Vitas in the New Vita Builder for more information.

Limitations

  • The new Add Custom Text feature for a generated vita will not be supported when using Vitas from the new vita builder in Interfolio Review, Promotion & Tenure cases
  • The option to rearrange/reorder individual activities will not be available in a generated personal vita. Instead, the order of activities is controlled via template sections
  • Vitas from the new Vita builder will not be available for use in the legacy Faculty180 evaluations feature set.
  • In standard Vitas report: For now, individual or bulk exports are only available in PDF for the institutional Vita templates. We are scoping the work for future improvements, including possible exports in the Microsoft Word format.
  • After editing a section’s settings, the template setting changes will not affect that section – they will need to edit the section settings separately.
