Define Administrative Access Rights by Unit

Users are assigned No Admin Rights, Report Rights, or Full Admin Rights. Full Administrative Rights can be defined and modified by unit based on the institution's structure. This article reviews the default settings, how to change them, and includes a table detailing each option in the Administrative Rights section.

 

Change Administrative Rights for A Unit

  1. Navigate to the Setup page and click Organizational Structure under the School section.
  2. The Organizational Structure page will display. Click the Pencil (Edit) icon next to the applicable unit to define Administrative Rights.
  3. Scroll down to the Administrative Rights section on the Edit Subunit page.
  4. Specify Administrative Rights for the selected unit. Check out the table below for more details on these rights.
  5. Sroll to the bottom and click Save and Go Back when finished.

Overview of Administrative Rights Sections

Administrative Right Details
No Access Granted Users will not see this option when they are logged into FAR.
Allow Access Only Users will see this option for their unit but will not be able to grant this access to other units.
Allow Access & Allow to Grant Access Allows the user to assign access to other users with administrative access to sub-units under the current unit, such as a dean assigning rights to a department chair.

Administrative Rights Default Settings

By default, all units will have the following permissions set by level.
