Import citations

To import a citation from an external source compliance with usage restrictions is required. Be sure to review any terms of use and/or license agreement from the external source. The safest method for importing citations is to obtain written permission from the external source. If it is not possible to obtain permission, importing citations should be avoided.

  1. Select and option from the Import menu.
    Import section
  2. Click Continue when finished.
  3. Fill out information. The options available will change based on the import source.
    • If uploading a Generic (RIS / BibTeX) citation, upload the citation and the click Save.
    • If importing from another source, check the boxes for any applicable citations in the Select column. Then click Import Selected at the bottom of the screen.

Add Co-Authors

  1. Click Add in the CoAuthor box of Section A
  2. Select to add a coauthor from the list of users at your institution or to type in the name of the coauthor. If you add a coauthor from your institution, they will be invited to add this scholarly contribution to their activities as well.
  3. When using the faculty selector tool to select an author at your institution, search for the name of author and then either double click their name from the list or highlight their name and select the right facing arrow to move their name to the selected list.

If you added a coauthor from your institution, you can edit their name in the fields shown. This will only change the alias of the authors name. If your intention is to replace that author with someone else, you must delete that entry and add a new one.

Respond to a coauthored work addition

Navigate to the coauthor verification action item on the dashboard.

As part of the Scholarly Contributions & Creative Productions functionality, FAR users can include coauthors when adding a new activity. If a FAR user wants to add a specific individual as a coauthor to an activity, a notification message with the Coauthor Verification Type displays in the To Do section on the requested individual's Dashboard. The option of accepting or rejecting the coauthor verification is provided. If accepting the coauthor verification, the option to edit your copy of the activity is available (only your copy of the activity will be changed - the changes will not be made to the other coauthor's copy of the activity). If rejecting the activity, the coauthor who requested to add the activity will not be notified of the rejection.

  1. Click the Coauthor Verification action item on the Dashboard.
  2. Click the desired option.
    • If Accept is chosen, a pop-up notification will be displayed giving the user the option to edit if necessary.
    • If Reject is chosen, a pop-up notification will be displayed for the user to confirm the rejection.

Once a disposition has been confirmed, the action item will disappear and there will not be an opportunity to change the response.

FAQs

Where is the record of my latest scholarly activity?

Throughout the year, the Interfolio Data Service (IDS) seeks out and pulls in data, at regular intervals, about academic publications that faculty members have produced including books, book chapters, journal articles, and conference proceedings publications. IDS gets this data from a large data pool covering over 230 million records, published and tracked in over 60,000 reputable periodicals/outlets.On a regular basis, the data available through IDS is refreshed with new batches of bibliographic records that we have discovered and matched to scholars. The flip side of this batch update scheduling, of course, is that IDS is not continuously updated at all times.

Not seeing a record of latest scholarly activity? If something new has been published since the last update, but it has not shown up on the Homepage yet, it is probably on its way. Select the tabs below for more information on next steps for time sensitive vs. not time sensitive information.

Not Time Sensitive

If it is not needed yet, just give it time. If it does not show up in the next batch after that, then it may not have been captured in our source data pool. Entering it manually or (if applicable at the institution) searching through an individually linked data source to see if it is there may be necessary.

Time Sensitive

If it is time-sensitive, it will need to be manually entered in, or (if applicable at the institution) searched through an individually linked data source to see if its there.
