Add the Workload Models Used by Your Institution
In Lifecycle Management, Administrators can create Workload Models to track workload obligations and expectations of how faculty will spend their working hours.
Workload is meant to capture general criteria and guidelines about the dedication to teaching, service, research, administrative and other responsibilities expected of a person assigned to that model.
The user can also establish custom workload elements; activities that make up a workload model such as Teaching, Service, and Research.
Workloads are added to the program from the Workload section of Lifecycle Management Platform Administration. Administrators can also edit and delete workloads from that page.
Please note: For this initial release of Lifecycle Management, the workload models field is NOT computational, and is currently not meant to achieve "weighted" workload modeling.
The terms Workload and Workload Model in this article refer to a customizable, dedicated text label used to record the agreed upon workload allocation for an individual faculty member. Your organization may have replaced the term "Workload" as part of the customization of the Lifecycle Management platform, but the steps for entering and managing workloads will appear
Add Workload Model
1. Navigate to the Platform Administration section of Lifecycle Management and click the "Workload" badge

2. Click "Add Workload Model"

3. Enter the name and description of the workload model

4. Enter the proposed workload allocation percentages and click to Save
The total of these workload elements should be 100.

The workload model will now appear as a selectable option in the drop down list of workloads that a user sees when creating a rank.

Click View Workload Details when creating a rank to display the description and details of the workload you created in a side pane.

Customise Workload Elements
We provide a set of default workload elements: Teaching, Service, Research, Other, and Administration
You can customize the words for these workload elements used at your institution. For example, instead of "Teaching," you can set the custom label to "Classroom Instruction."
Click to open the Workload Elements tab.

Click Edit under Actions column to the right of the page

Enter Custom Label and click to Save
