Announcing important changes in how AACSB reporting in Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR, Faculty180) works at Interfolio. Interfolio will now help run AACSB reports. The article below explains these changes in more detail along with a video introducing the updated reporting process.

 

In order to ensure the AACSB reports are correctly reporting data, a grouping for courses and assigned AACSB must be created as the accrediting body in FAR. Check out the “How to prepare for reporting” section on the article about how to Configure AACSB Reports for more information on this process.

What is AACSB and AACSB accreditation?

  • AACSB or Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business is an international accrediting body for business schools.
  • AACSB Accreditation is the largest and most widely recognized business accreditation in the world.
  • AACSB accreditation must be renewed every 5 years.
  • The standards for AACSB accreditation are changed and updated regularly

How does FAR assist institutions in providing the required information to gain/maintain accredited status?

FAR, in conjunction with our business intelligence tools, can be used to gather data and populate the necessary tables for AACSB. Faculty and administration can enter teaching, scholarly activities and other data about faculty that will be used to populate AACSB tables according to AACSB requirements.  

 

What has changed with the AACSB 2020 standards in Interfolio?

The AACSB 2020 standards changed in a variety of ways including:

  • Data is no longer reported at the faculty's unit but at the discipline level
  • Removal of table 2.2 from required documentation (which journals faculty are publishing in)
  • Scholarship reports are at the overall discipline contribution rather than individual faculty member

With the development of the tables to support the 2020 standards, Interfolio took the opportunity to move over to our business intelligence reporting tool. The tables for 2013 and 2020 are no longer native in product. In addition to supporting the creation of the tables, the new reports contain additional insight and display options and provide fuller, more robust data.

 

How does AACSB reporting work now?

Interfolio will now help run reports. The following actions will need to be completed:

  1. Enter data into the system
  2. Verify that data.
  3. Then contact help@interfolio.com to have reports run and delivered.

Please note that the current solutions for reporting are temporary, short-term solutions. Users will soon be offered the ability to run reports themselves.

 
 

How are AACSB reports requested?

To request reports please submit a request to help@interfolio.com with the required details asking that a help ticket for the report be created.

 

How are the tables for AACSB 2017 and 2020 built?

The following explains how tables for AACSB 2017 and AACSB 2020 are built from Activity Classifications and Faculty Classifications.

  • Table 2.1 (Summary of Intellectual Contributions): Activity Classifications entered by or on behalf of faculty will populate Table 2.1. That information is drawn from the scholarship section of F180 and Faculty Classification for AACSB FTE.
  • Table 2.2 (Summary of Peer Reviewed Journals and Number of Publications): Activity Classifications entered by or on behalf of faculty will populate Table 2.2. That information is also drawn from the scholarship section, and based on the Activity Classification = Intellectual Contribution Review Type.
  • Table 15.1 (Faculty Sufficiency and Qualifications): Faculty Classifications for Faculty Sufficiency, Normal Professional Responsibilities and Percent of Time Devoted to Mission for Each Faculty Qualification Group. Date of First Appointment to the School which is populated from the 'Year Started field in the faculty classification file and Highest Degree, Year Earned, which is populated from the Degree section on the Profile Form.
  • Table 15.2 (Deployment of Participating and Supporting Faculty By Qualification Status In Support Of Degree Programs): Faculty Classification for Faculty Sufficiency and Course/Program Grouping.
  • Table 3.1 (Faculty Sufficiency and Qualifications): Faculty Classifications for Faculty Sufficiency, Normal Professional Responsibilities and Percent of Time Devoted to Mission for Each Faculty Qualification Group. Date of First Appointment to the School which is populated from the Year Started field in the faculty classification file and Highest Degree, Year Earned, which is populated from the Degree section on the Profile Form. Teaching data is pulled from the Courses Taught section
  • Table 3.2 (Deployment of Participating and Supporting Faculty By Qualification Status In Support Of Degree Programs): The Faculty Classification for Faculty Sufficiency and Course/Program Groupings with metric numbers from the Courses Taught of those Courses.
  • Table 8.1 (Summary of Intellectual Contributions): Activity Classifications entered by or on behalf of faculty will populate Table 8.1. That information is drawn from the scholarship section of F180 based on the Activity Classification = Intellectual Contribution Review Type and AACSB Scholarly Type with Faculty Classification for FTE.
