Use Dossier Deliver to Apply to Medical or Dental Schools

Dossier users with a Dossier Deliver subscription can send confidential letters and other materials to medical or dental school applications. Interfolio partners with some medical schools and associations such as AMCAS, AACOMAS, AADSAS and TMDSAS to make letter management easier. This article will cover how to send letters of recommendation to medical and dental school applications.

 

Apply to Medical and Dental School

AADSAS

Confidential letters of recommendation are sent to AADSAS through a Confidential Letter Upload delivery. This delivery method utilizes the unique document email address generated for every letter stored in a Dossier account, and each delivery costs one delivery credit.

1. Navigate to New Delivery under Deliveries

Navigation: Deliveries > New Delivery

  1. Click Deliveries on the navigation menu.

  2. Click New Delivery at the top of the Deliveries page.

    If the account is not upgraded to Dossier Deliver, a prompt will appear to upgrade account before proceeding with delivery. Only paid Dossier Deliver accounts can be used to deliver materials. Check out this article on how to Upgrade to Dossier Deliver for more information.

     
 
 

2. Upload desired Letters of Recommendation

  1. Click Confidential Letter Upload under the Send Materials section.

  2. Ensure the option You enter your recommenders' email addresses is selected.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Select the checkboxes adjacent to the desired letters to send.
  5. Click Continue when finished.

    Note that only letters of recommendation that have already been received can be used in a delivery.

     
 
 

3. Fill out information

  1. Click Copy adjacent to the desired letter of recommendation to copy the unique document email address.

  2. Navigate out of Dossier to the AADSAS application and paste this document email address into the email address field under "Evaluator's Information" for the relevant letter writer.
  3. Fill out the other relevant fields of the form, fill in the waiver and permissions check boxes, and click Save This Evaluation Request.

    Select Yes to waive the right to access any confidential letter of recommendation being delivered to AADSAS.

     
    • Clicking this button will initiate the confidential letter upload process, so no additional action is necessary.

Note that once a letter has been delivered to AADSAS, Interfolio is unable to update or replace it.

 

Note that submitted confidential letter uploads will not immediately show on the Deliveries page. Once the request from AADSAS has been received, the estimated time to complete the delivery is 1-3 business days. When the processing of the request has begun, the delivery will show with an In Progress status on the Deliveries page.

 
 
 
 
 

AACOMAS

Individual DO School

Confidential letters of recommendation are sent to individual DO schools through a custom application that requires an AACOMAS ID to complete.

Users can also send letters to AACOMAS directly through a Confidential Letter Upload delivery. For more on this, check out the AACOMAS section of this article.

 

1. Copy AACOMAS ID to Dossier under ID Numbers

  1. Navigate to the AACOMAS application and copy the ten digit AACOMAS ID
  2. Navigate to Dossier and click Account Settings from the dropdown in the upper right-hand corner.

  3. Click ID Numbers on the left-hand navigation bar.

  5. Select AACOMAS under New ID Type.
  6. Enter the New ID Value that you copied in the first step.
  7. Click Save when finished.

Evaluators do not need to include the AACOMAS ID number on their letter if they are submitting it to Interfolio.

2. Create a delivery to an individual DO school

  1. Click Deliveries on the navigation menu.

  2. Click New Delivery at the top of the Deliveries page.

    If the account is not upgraded to Dossier Deliver, a prompt will appear to upgrade account before proceeding with delivery. Only paid Dossier Deliver accounts can be used to deliver materials. Check out this article on how to Upgrade to Dossier Deliver for more information.

     
  3. Search for the institution in the Find an Opportunity search field at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Select the Position Name for the delivery.
  5. Click Start Application.
  6. Click Add Documents. Choose documents to add to the application from existing documents or upload a new file.
  7. Click Add when finished.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Click Add Custom ID to Application.
  10. Click Add.
  11. Click Submit to complete the delivery.

    If the AACOMAS ID in the delivery does not match the ID in AACOMAS, the delivery will not sync correctly with the AACOMAS application.

     
 
 
 
 

TMDSAS

Confidential letters of recommendation are sent to TMDSAS through a custom application that requires a TMDSAS ID to complete.

TMDSAS requires contact information for letter writers on all letters of recommendation.

 

Adding a TMDSAS ID to Dossier

1. Log into the TMDSAS application and enter the letter writer's name in the "Letters of Evaluation" section

2. Select "Interfolio" from the drop-down menu for the question “Indicate how your evaluator will send your letter to TMDSAS”

3. Copy the TMDSAS ID

4. Navigate to Dossier and associate the TMDSAS ID number with the account by clicking the name in the upper right-hand corner and selecting Account Settings from the drop-down menu.

5. Select the TMDSAS ID type from the drop-down menu, paste the TMDSAS value into the "New ID Value" field, and click “Save”

TMDSAS requires evaluators to include the TMDSAS ID number on their letter even if they are submitting it to Interfolio.

6. After adding the TMDSAS ID, navigate back to Dossier

Creating a delivery to TMDSAS

1. Navigate to the Deliveries page and click “New Delivery"

2. Search for TMDSAS in the "Find an Opportunity" search field at the bottom of the screen

3. Select the relevant application cycle

4. Click “Start Application”

5. Click “Add Documents”

6. Choose documents to add to the application from existing documents or upload a new file

7. After all relevant documents have been selected, click “Add”

8. Confirm documents added and click “Continue”

9. Add the TMDSAS ID to the delivery by clicking “Add Custom ID to Application”

10. Select the TMDSAS ID by clicking "Add" and then click "Submit" to complete the delivery

 
 

AMCAS

Confidential letters of recommendation are sent to AMCAS through a custom application that requires both letter and AAMC IDs to complete.

When creating an electronic delivery to AMCAS, add only letters of recommendation to the delivery. Do not include the letter request form as this is not a required document for deliveries to AMCAS.

 

Adding an AMCAS ID to Dossier

1. Log into the AMCAS application click on the relevant cycle

2. Click on the name in the upper right-hand corner and select "My Account" from the dropdown menu

3. Copy the eight to ten digit AAMC ID

4. Navigate to Dossier and associate the AMCAS ID number with the account by clicking the name in the upper right-hand corner and selecting Account Settings from the drop-down menu.

5. Navigate to the ID Numbers page

6. Select the AMCAS ID type from the drop-down menu, paste the AAMC ID into the "New ID Value field", and click “Save”

7. After adding the AAMC ID, navigate back to Dossier

Creating a delivery to AMCAS

1. Navigate to the Deliveries page and click “New Delivery”

2. Search for AMCAS in the "Find an Opportunity" search field at the bottom of the screen

3. Select  the relevant application cycle

4. Click “Start Application”

5. Click “Add Documents”

6. Choose documents to add to the application from existing documents or upload a new file

7. After all relevant documents have been selected, click “Add”

8. Confirm documents added and click “Continue”

9. Enter the corresponding AMCAS Letter ID for each letter  and click “Save Letter IDs”

Adding a letter ID to Dossier

9.1. Navigate to the AAMC application, click on "My Application", and select "Letters of Evaluation" from the dropdown menu

9.2. Copy the seven to ten digit letter ID for the relevant letter

9.3. Navigate back to Dossier and paste the letter ID into the field for the corresponding letter in the Delivery

 

10. Add the AAMC ID to the delivery by clicking "Add" next to the AAMC ID

If the AAMC ID in the delivery does not match the ID in AMCAS, the delivery will not sync correctly with the AMCAS application.

 

11. Click "Submit" to complete the delivery
