User Roles in Interfolio Faculty Search

A user's role determines their capabilities in Interfolio Faculty Search (FS). There are a few different types of users in the program: Institutional Administrators, Administrators, Committee Managers, Evaluators, and EEO Officers. Administrators can also be given EEO access.

Evaluators are any user assigned to a search committee for a position. Evaluators can view applications, add labels to applications, and if permissions allow, can add ratings and comments on applications.

Committee Managers supervise searches at the department level for the positions they’re assigned to. Committee Managers can edit settings and statuses (if permissions allow), view reports, communicate with applicants, and evaluate applications.

Administrators can create, manage, and monitor searches, configure settings and permissions, view positions, applications, and reports, and support position and selection approval processes. These capabilities apply within the unit where the Administrator role is assigned and, when applicable, its subordinate units.

Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officers are usually staff from Human Resources, Institutional Diversity, or another campus office who are responsible for EEO standards and practices at an institution. EEO officers monitor and run EEO reports on positions to which they have access. They can also add EEO notes to positions to document potential EEO concerns.

An Institutional Administrator is a user assigned the Administrator role at the top-level unit in the institutional hierarchy. This assignment provides administrative access across the institution and automatically includes the relevant EEO scope. They do not need a separate EEO designation.

Administrators assigned below the top-level unit can perform the actions identified in this article only within their designated unit and any subordinate units included in their administrative scope. A checkmark in the table indicates that the role has the capability within its authorized scope; it does not grant institution-wide access. Settings controlled or locked by a higher unit may further limit the changes they can make.

Committee Managers and Evaluators can perform the actions identified in this article only for searches where they are assigned to the search committee. Committee Managers receive the management capabilities shown in the table, while Evaluators receive only the applicable review capabilities. Neither role provides access to other searches within the position’s unit. Access may also depend on the position status, application-status permissions, blind-review settings, and other search configuration.
